Best CBD Oil for Diabetes: Does It Help and How Much To Take?

Although clinical research on CBD and diabetes is still limited, many people use CBD oil to ease the symptoms of their disease as well as the whole host of diabetes-triggered conditions such as hypertension, pancreatic inflammation, and chronic pain. There are certain areas that we may consider “well-studied” with regards to using CBD for diabetes, but some of them require more research due to unclear results from past studies. Then, there’s the question that troubles the majority of new consumers: where do you buy high-quality CBD oil to safely manage the symptoms of diabetes? There are way too many mediocre products on the market. Some of them have less CBD than advertised; others carry no CBD at all. And the worst, some of the untested CBD supplements can actually be dangerous for your health due to the presence of solvents or pesticides in the end product. See? Things ain’t easy. But don’t worry, we’re here to make both the science and regulatory matters as clear as possible. ...

Senators Want Marijuana Businesses To Qualify For Federal Coronavirus Relief Programs

A coalition of 10 lawmakers sent a letter to the body's leadership on Wednesday, asking that they include language in the next coronavirus stimulus package that would allow marijuana businesses to access federal relief dollars just as companies in other industries can. Sens. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) led the sign-on letter, which states that the cannabis industry deserves equal access to aid through two programs under the federal Small Business Administration (SBA): the Paycheck Protection Program and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. Access to this relief “will allow these small businesses to keep their workers on payroll and prevent further job losses that are devastating the economy,” the senators wrote. “The coronavirus crisis demands relief for all workers and businesses, no matter the sector.” As it stands, SBA specifically prohibits marijuana businesses — as well as those that work “indirectly” with the industry , such as law and accountin...

Setting the record straight about CBD and Coronavirus

A little more than a hundred years ago, the world faced a pandemic similar to the COVID-19  (coronavirus) that we confront today. According to The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), from 1918—1919, about 500 million people became infected with the H1N1 virus , which claimed the lives of 675,000 Americans and approximately 50 million worldwide. As of April 19, 2020 , coronavirus has infected more than 2.4 million and killed 165,000 people. Pandemics throughout history make people frantic for a cure, and snake oil salesmen have been hustling “cures” for millennia. During the 1918 pandemic, substances touted as such run the gamut: Vick's VapoRub, Indian Herbs, and Miller's Antiseptic Oil among them.  Today is no different, and the proclivity to never let a good crisis go to waste thrives. Recently, a Southern California-based doctor was charged with fraud for selling COVID-19 “treatment packs” for a hefty price. Others looking to cash in on COVID fears are righ...

Here's Music to Listen to When High

There's nothing more relaxing than listening to a little music with a nice cannabis high circulating through your system. Other times, there's nothing more exciting — which is its own activity altogether. If you're smoking weed and listening to music to relax or get hyped, you're ahead of the curve.  Neurologist Alice Flaherty researches creativity. She told Mic.com , "No one quite understands it, but the cannabinoid receptors seem to be involved in producing a watchful, alert state." This vigilance means that some people experience a richer sensory response to auditory stimuli like music, rendering it more enjoyable for some, provided it's the right type of music.  What constitutes the best songs to listen to when high? Just like munchies, this all comes down to personal preference. It's safe to assume that if you already love a song, experiencing it while high might kick it up a few notches, but being buzzed is also a perfect time to experime...

You can laugh, but CBD Pre-rolls are the future

The first time I encountered a CBD pre-roll, I was at work. As a writer for a cannabis lifestyle website, brands would send all kinds of products our way, the bulk of which contained high levels of THC. This was back in early 2017 when CBD had just begun taking off and the idea that you would smoke something with less than 20% THC—let alone none at all—sounded absurd. As we examined the cigarette-like filter and packaging, my coworker laughed. “The only thing that's good for is wasting money,” he said.  I was inclined to agree. What's the point of smoking something that doesn't get you high? Why not roll up some dried rose petals or oregano and call it a day? Still, I was curious. So, I took the pack home with me and lit one up on my back porch. I smoked the whole thing and waited. And waited. When I still couldn't feel any noticeable difference in my body or mind twenty minutes later, I assumed my coworker was right. CBD pre-rolls had no place in a stoner's l...

Lawmakers push Congressional Leaders to include Cannabis Businesses in Coronavirus Relief Bill

A bipartisan group of 34 members of Congress is calling on House leadership to include language in the next coronavirus stimulus bill to allow marijuana businesses to access federal disaster relief that is available to other industries. “The state-legal cannabis industry is a major contributor to the U.S. economy and workforce, employing over 240,000 workers across 33 states and four territories, and generating $1.9 billion in state and local taxes in 2019,” the lawmakers wrote. “State-legal cannabis businesses need access to CARES Act programs to ensure they have the financial capacity to undertake the public health and worker-focused measures experts are urging businesses to take.” Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) led the effort to build support for the letter, which was released on Friday. A similar letter to Senate leadership, led by Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), is also in the works and is expected to be released in the coming days. As it stands, the federal Small Business Admin...

Best Marijuana Strains for Focus: Cannabis as Alternatives For ADHD Meds

Anyone looking for help with their focus and attention may have trouble reading a long article. So we’ll do this in short, easily-digestible bites. If you ask 100 regular weed users what effect smoking has on their attention span, you may find 50 who say that pot helps them focus, and 49 others who say it zones them out and puts them on the couch. (The 100 th person wasn’t available to answer; she’d gone on a 7-11 run for more Mountain Dew and Doritos.) Who’s right? Probably all of them. Marijuana affects people differently. And even more importantly, different types of marijuana have markedly different effects on users. You certainly know, at least in very general terms, the difference between Sativa and Indica – and the difference between pot’s two most important cannabinoids, THC and CBD. Those differences become extremely important when deciding on the right strain to use to help your focus and your attention. Let’s dig a bit deeper into the matter. Don’t worry, we’ll try t...

Top 5 Purple Weed Strains: The Best Selection Of This Terrific Bud

Purple weed is always a big deal. Dispensaries will tell you that purple marijuana strains are their biggest sellers when they can keep them in stock. And there’s unquestionably an extra level of excitement when someone brings home an ounce – and shows everyone the beautiful, purple flower they were able to score. It’s gonna be an awesome night! But are they right? Is purple flower any different than green? Well, it’s definitely cooler looking, but we assume that’s not what you’re asking. The truth is that purple weed isn’t going to get you any more wasted just because it’s purple. It’s maybe better for a different reason, though: purple strains are more likely to have greater health benefits than green ones. Sorry if that’s not what you wanted to hear, but that shouldn’t stop you from grabbing one of the purples when you have the chance, because there are some truly incredibly purple pot strains out there. Here’s a look at the subject, and a rundown of the best purple weeds to ...
